VIEW FROM MY WINDOW BEFORE GRENFELL

 (unfinished because of the tragedy)

One day I looked outside my window and decided to start sketching the lovely view as part of the project 'Windows of my life' Little I knew that before the sketch would be finished, that big tower at the back would burn with 72 people inside.

I treasure this unfinished work more than ever now as a memory of the people we lost and a reminder to appreciate what we have in front of us. The people of Grenfell are for ever in our hearts.

This was the home page of my first website called Flamingo Therapy. I have always made art, but I used to have a fashion workshop as my main job for years. The clothes were all artistic, unique, hand made, hand died and painted upon.

little by little I started to dedicate my creativity to wall art and making fashion only a small part of my art project

I like the creative side of fashion and the feeling of lightness and transience of life, but not too much the current fashion system polluting the earth and teaching the wrong values to young people. Lots has to change.

Anyway, back to the artwork below. The flamingos in the cave are the imaginary flamingos working at the designs at night, their inspiration coming from all the objects and books on the shelves. They are dying the fabrics with indigo for many hours like the alchemists used to boil iron to transform it in gold.

This one is part of a series of artwork called 'Windows of my life'.

This window is from my flat in London.  What I love about this one is the colour of the leaves, so many it took me months to put them all on canvas in the form of different materials and fabrics. By that time the real leaves were already all gone, but the painting is still here. (still not finished!) This is why I love making art. It expands life so much that time disappears.

New York City. The idea was to make it much more detailed, with all the windows in the buildings, the lights, the textures, the roofs etc. But I ended up showing it and everyone loved it as it was and they convinced me (ish!)I am now hesitating about continuing to work at it following my original idea. For the time being this is it

Always love sewing dreams. Or eyelashes. What can you see?

A dream. An Orthodox  church in the far East. perhaps Russia, but it could have been anywhere in the world.  candles and gold. Someone  had died.  A mother was mourning.
