NAPLES, WHERE I WAS BORN, IS ONE OF MY BIGGEST, NEVER ENDING, FONTS OF INSPIRATION. IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO EXPLAIN WHY, SO I LET MY PAINTINGS DO THE TALKING

A bit of gold and yellow stitches to create shining stars dancing around a full Moon on 'The Mountain' : mount Vesuvious

'Ori' is the gold symbol of napoleitan playing cards also used for divination.

I think Naples as rich, mysterious, and full of silver, gold and blue lights.

This was my first experiment with this style and the mount Vesuvius done years ago

Vesuvio, a cup, a star and the sacred heart: Napoli

Silks, mosaic tiles, lavic stone and many other materials for this one

Just a bit of history about the birth of the city.

The legend says that the beautiful city of Naples was created where the Syren Partenope died. Syren were marmaids, mythologic creatures. Half fish or half birds, or half women, in older history.

Partenope had a beautiful voice none could resist, and she loved Ulysses. Ulysses sailed by the rock where she was singing and didn't stop. He wanted to, but he knew of the danger of the syrens, so had ordered his sailors to put wax in their ears and to tie him up the the ship mast and to not to do anything, no matter what he would do, until they would be very vary far away... Ulysses was the only man who survived the seductive voice of a syren and Partenope who fell in love for him, left the other syrens and went swimming in more open seas. When Partenope died, it was just by the Megaride rock, and local people buried the beautiful creature and then they decided to build a city  just there, which become the city of Naples. This is why Napoleitan love songs and love songs always resonate in the narrows streets of the city
